Cook Inlet near Anchor Point & Chugach Island
May 31, 2016
The waters near Anchor Point have been productive for halibut from 30 to 150 feet. Best action is on herring, but also worth trying cod or pollock as bait if you happen to catch one. Kings near Anchor Point have been best on a bait & flasher combo. We prefer an 11-inch white Bechtold flasher with bait, or an 11-inch Red/Glow Hot Spot with bait. We use about a 3-foot leader between the flasher and bait, and when trolling the Anchor Point area, set the gear from 15 to 35 feet down. Not too far away from Anchor Point, near Chugach Island, the Rockfish have been good while using metal jigs such as the Point Wilson Dart in the 2-6 oz sizes.
